We hope that you and your families are doing well in these unprecedented days. We have been working on options for our Chapter going forward and are excited to share the plans we have made to continue supporting local charities together. Our motto of 100 Women, 1 Hour, $100 = A Powerful Impact still stands, but the “1 Hour” part will be altered for the time being as you will see below, with our plans for a virtual meeting.
Donations to date: $85,000
We are so happy to announce our total donations since 2017. That is $85,000 that has gone directly to supporting local charities in our community. Congratulations Members! Our goal remains to reach $100,000 by the end of 2020.
As always, we are looking to expand our membership and in turn increase the donations to charities in our community. Please help spread the word about our group. Feel free to share social media posts and share our website with anyone you think may be interested. These are challenging times for so many people and for those who are able to, 100WWCC is a great way to support local charities with a maximum impact.
As you know, 100% of your donations go directly to the chosen charities. 100WWCC is merely a third party that collects and distributes your donations. We do however have administrative costs to run our Chapter. These costs include the website hosting and email hosting are approximately $400 annually. Currently, these costs are covered personally by members of the executive. We would like to explore the option of a corporate sponsor to help offset the costs of running our chapter and in turn promote the sponsor through our website and social media. If you are aware of a potential sponsor, please let us know.
Caledon Ski Club:
We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to The Caledon Ski Club for their ongoing support of 100WWCC. They have been a venue partner since we began in 2017 and we appreciate their generosity.
Second Quarter Meeting (May 2020): We are pleased to announce that 100WWCC members raised $4,000 through voluntary donations in our second quarter. The donations were divided between Caledon Meals on Wheels, Caledon Community Services, William Osler Foundation and The Headwaters Foundation. Some members donated to multiple charities and one member also included a donation from their family business.
Third Quarter Meeting (September): We are working on plans to host a virtual meeting in lieu of our regular in person meeting in September. We have looked at successful models from other 100 Women Chapters and come up with a plan that we think will work well for our Chapter. We have done our best to keep the meeting as inclusive as possible. See below for an outline of how this meeting will work.
Virtual Meeting Procedures:
Today: Nominations are now open for the September virtual meeting. The nomination process is the same as in the past. Visit www.100womenwhocarecaledon.com and follow the instructions under the tab “JOIN US” and “CHARITY NOMINATIONS”.
September 3: Charity Nominations are due. All nominations will be vetted at this time to ensure that they meet the qualifications for nomination.
September 10: Three charities will be drawn and announced to the membership. The selected charities will be given the opportunity to address the membership in the form of a written appeal on behalf of their charity (approximately 250 words). 100WWCC will provide the charities with an outline of suggested topics to cover in their appeal.
September 14: The written appeals from the charities will be sent to the membership via email, posted on our website and shared through the 100WWCC Facebook page and Instagram. Members will have 10 days to review the three charity’s appeals and vote.
September 24: Votes may be cast until midnight on September 24. Voting will be done in one of two ways.
1.) Email firstname.lastname@example.org using the subject “Vote”
2.) Phone in your vote. A phone number will be provided.
September 25: The chosen charity will be announced via email, on our website and through social media. At this time we will provide you with information on how your donation can be made. In addition to mailing in cheques, we are excited to announce that we are now set up on Canada Helps and will be able to direct your donations to the chosen charity virtually. We will provide you an update on Canada Helps and how it works in the coming weeks.
October 9: Donations are due. We have decided to provide members with a due date for donations to help reduce the amount of time required by our volunteers to collect outstanding donations from our members.
Please note that we are available to answer any of your questions as we transition to virtual meetings for the time being. We will provide as much information to you as possible throughout the course of the nomination and voting process.
Canada Helps is an online platform that streamlines the online donation process. 100WWCC is currently setting up our page with links to past charities we have supported and will provide links to upcoming charities once they are selected through our meetings. This will allow members to donate electronically through Canada Helps. Since the donations will be made through our page, 100WWCC will be able to continue to track who has made a donation and keep our tally of total donations to date. Due to the processing fee that charities incur from Canada Helps, we would suggest that your donation is made for $104 instead of $100 if you chose to use this platform. This way, we can continue to know that 100% of your donation goes to the charity.
Please note that we will still be accepting mailed cheques as donations and can make arrangements for pick up of cash donations as well. Canada Helps is just an additional way for our members to give. We will provide more information about this option in the coming weeks.
We would like to welcome Patty Davidson to the executive committee. Patty will be working on corporate sponsorship and will help in promoting our chapter.
Thank you to all 100WWCC members for your continued support. The impact of 100WWCC on our community is powerful and we are stronger together. We look forward to seeing all of you again at a meeting in the future, but until that time, we just want to say that we are proud to be part of such an amazing group of women.
